The cold weather is here, the nights are drawing in. Making being full of joy hard, unless you are already excited for the festive season ahead, after all it is only 10 weeks until Christmas. By adding a bit of autumn decor to your home, it will instantly become more cosy and look fresher.

Porch Decor

To start you need to set the tone, place different size pumpkins on your porch or front door area, these don’t have to be real pumpkin, plastic or pot pumpkins are available in stores and online. Followed by a door mat and some straw bales, this adds a touch of harvest. Joined by tin flowerpots or wooden baskets to give a more rustic look, with orange, yellow and brown coloured flowers. Front doors are the key to your home, and gives off the first impression. There are some beautiful autumnal wreaths available with pine cones, berries, leaves and flowers in. To brighten up your porch area up at night, lanterns are a great ideal. Lanterns also help set the eerie mood for Halloween.

Living Room Interior

Cold dark nights are about staying warm and cosy. Who doesn’t dread going back out after working all day in winter, by adding a few autumnal touches to your home it can spruce the place up and makes relaxation time more enjoyable. A big cosy throw for your living room, matched with some cushions are ideal. Cushions are the perfect tool for updating your home during autumn. Burnt orange, velvet cushions are a popular choice at this time of year. A wool rug can become the centrepiece of any living space, brightening the place up whilst keeping your feet warm on a cold morning.

Table Decorations

When it comes to autumn table decorations there are many things you can do and create for next to nothing. A wooden tray with a bouquet of wheat in a rustic pot makes a great centre piece, with pine cones, pumpkins and tea lights surrounding this. Alternatively, you can place rustic looking lanterns on the table surrounded by fallen leaves.
